Level Up & Core Concepts: Art, Math & Design (STEAM)
Jr/Sr High School: Astronomy, Personal Finance, and The Adulting Toolbox

Ms. Nikki brings creativity, energy, and a whole lot of hands-on fun to every class she teaches. At Berea, she regularly leads art and STEM courses, and this year she’s adding math and personal finance to the mix. Her classes are lively and collaborative—students are often up, building, creating, and sharing ideas with each other. Ms. Nikki believes the best learning happens when students are free to explore and take ownership of what they create, whether it’s an abstract painting or a complex STEM build.

With a BFA in Art from Mizzou and a certification in AutoCAD, Ms. Nikki has a unique blend of artistic and technical experience. Before joining Berea, she worked as a CAD tech at an engineering firm, trained crew members as a lead ride ambassador at Worlds of Fun, and tutored throughout high school. Her unexpected journey into teaching began in 2020, when a surprise Facebook message connected her with the beloved Delores Jensen—and she’s been part of the Berea family ever since.

Outside the classroom, Ms. Nikki is a true maker. Her skills range from woodworking and sewing to drawing, printmaking, and even candle making. She’s deeply involved in local youth theater, designing sets, props, and special effects for Kirkwood Youth Theater and her local dance team. She and her husband Steve have two amazing kids: Kyanna, a quiet but talented performer, and Craig, a charismatic VR-loving social butterfly. Their family also includes two cats, Luna and Griffin.
Ms. Nikki’s favorite thing about Berea? The students—especially when their eyes light up with a new idea—and the friendships she shares with her fellow teachers. She’s always up for a good challenge, a new project, or a classroom full of curious kids ready to create.
