A Program for Academics and Enrichment

As a program, Core Concepts completed its third year in the 2022/2023 school year. Several aspects have changed as our students, families, and instructors have gained experience. For the 2023/2024 school year, the program is focused primarily on 6th grade. Mature/advanced 5th graders will fit well with the program, as will young 7th grade students.

To know if your student is well matched to Core Concepts, talk to the class instructors, review the curriculum, and administration. All questions can be addressed at BereaAcademyStL@gmail.com

To be successful, students need to bring a notebook or folder with paper for note taking and completing individual work or activities. Berea Academy recommends students also bring a pencil/pen, a small set of colored pencils, an eraser, and a small pair of scissors. Tape/glue will be provided by the instructor if needed.

Our Instructors

Core Concepts 23/24 will feature familiar instructors as well as a few new faces. Ms. Jess, Ms. Maria, and Ms. Nikki are thrilled to step into these courses.

Ms. Jess

Jessica Turcios joined Berea as a staff member for the 2019/2020 school year. In 2020/2021, Ms. Jess started her journey as an instructor. Ms. Jess leads Literature and Art classes for our younger Wonder and Explore students, as well as marching through History with our Core Concepts group. Ms. Jess’ enthusiasm reigns in her classroom, inviting students to explore the subject at hand.

Ms. Maria

Maria Tetley stepped into Berea’s high school Chemistry and Core Concepts Literature classes in 2022/2023. God called her to Berea, and for 2023/2024 God has asked her to go “all in!” Ms. Maria has a down to earth approach to all her students, with great insight into their interests, connectivity, and individual needs.

Ms. Nikki

Nikki Davis is a woman of many talents – starting with her excitement to start with Berea in the middle of the school year 2021/2022. Ms. Nikki is an artist, instructing in a variety of art mediums and styles while creating a creative space for relaxation, enjoyment, and skill building. Ms. Nikki loves to work with music floating through the air in the classroom, giving students individual attention as they work through the lesson.
