Course Catalog for 2023-2024

Welcome to the 2023-2024 Berea Academy Course Catalog

The 2023-2024 Course Catalog is designed to provide the information on each class offered at Berea Academy for the 2023-2024 School Year. It is a comprehensive guide to the academy. Throughout the summer, there may be some updates or corrections to the class information. If a class becomes unavailable, it will be noted in the course description.

2023/2024 School Year Schedule:

  • September 5, 6, and 7, 2023; First Week of Class
  • November 21, 22 and 23, 2023 ; No School, Thanksgiving Break
  • December 22, 2023 through January 8, 2024; No School; Christmas Break
  • January 9, 10, and 11, 2024; Return to Classes
  • February 20, 21, and 22, 2024; No School; Wish It Was Spring Break
  • March 26, 27, and 28, 2024; No School; Easter Break
  • May 14, 15, and 16, 2024; Last Week of School

Class Enrollment closes on August 18th, 2023, to provide our teachers with adequate time to prepare for their students.

For the 2023/2024 school year, there are no contingency cancellation days planned. Berea Academy will absorb up to 2 lost school days due to cancellation. If more than 2 days are lost, make-up days will occur during “Wish It Was Spring Break” or Easter Break. Priority will be given to replace in person learning with online learning instead of direct cancellation, when possible, but any change to in person classes will be handled on a case-by-case basis. 

Math Workshop (Core Concepts) will have a Monday mandatory tutor session online. The first date for the tutor sessions will be our second week of operation, September 11th, 2023. For holidays, semester breaks, or other scheduling changes, the teacher will update the parents and student via email and classroom.


Chapel

Chapel is the third Thursday of the month at 11:55am, lasting 15 minutes. On Chapel days, lunch and certain class periods will be slightly shortened. Chapel is optional for students. For those students who choose not to attend, they will be instructed to spend the time in the lunchroom or study hall.

  • All classes scheduled to end at 11:55am will end 5 minutes early, at 11:50am
  • Chapel will begin at 11:55am and end at 12:15pm
  • Lunch will begin immediately after Chapel 
  • All classes scheduled to begin at 12:30pm will begin 5 minutes late, at 12:35pm

There are no upcoming events.

Recognizing the need for students to have a short break between classes in order to use the restroom, gather needed supplies, and walk to their next class on time, the class times in the course catalog show an ending time five minutes earlier than the schedule grid.

Grade Levels

Wonder and Explore

A program for Kindergarten through 3rd Grade students, featuring core classes in social studies, science, reading, and art.

Level Up!

A program for 4th or 5th Grade students, featuring core classes in social studies, science, reading, and art.

Core Concepts, Level 3

A program for 5th through 7th Grade featuring core classes, enrichment classes, and additional classes.

Junior High School

Junior High School sees students in 6th through 9th grades take more responsibility for their own learning. Classes increase in challenge and participation. Berea strives to support these students as they mature into young adults.

High School

As student advance into grades 9th through 12th, Berea Academy is focused on creating and providing academically rigorous classes in an environment of compassion, love, and leadership.

Study Hall

Berea Academy is a program fostering academic achievement. The coursework is intensive and requires each student to work independently during the week to be successful. In order to maintain the academic focus during the campus day, students are required to be in a study hall or class while on campus.

For the 2023/2024 school year, Study Halls will be priced in 30 minute segments in order to accommodate all ages on campus. Each 30 minute segment is $15 for the entire semester.
