A peek behind the curtain.

Lots of things going on behind the scenes!

You may be wondering why the newsletter is hitting your inboxes on Tuesday. Just a smidge behind the usual schedule….

Indulge me for a moment, I have some things to share.

I have been working on the 2023/2024 school year since early February. There has been a lot of research, conversation, exploration, and prayer. I have been doing this yearly planning since February of 2018, and in some ways it feels so familiar. And in other ways….

For the first time, God has been giving me an interesting direction: “I want you to think about….”
Think about changing curricula.
Think about changing the schedule around.
Think about building bridges to the greater homeschool community.
Think about how to better serve Southgate.
Think about ….

Putting it that way, it does feel familiar. These are things I consider every time I’m planning for the next school  year. And yet, this direction has been opening my eyes, mind, and heart in ways completely unexpected. In the past, I have wrestled through these questions, seeking clarity, leaning on God’s leadership. The answers have come into my hands, as part of the provision for our work. This year…. the answers haven’t come; not  yet, not in total, not in clarity.

My workspace is littered with sticky notes, used coffee mugs, and random office supplies. It’s a good representation of my mind; cluttered with the threads of the 23/24 plan, viewing it all to see how the weave is coming together.

What’s the point in all this? Well.
1. Updates are late this week, because I was digging into literature studies and lost track of time.
2. Prayer request: Join me. First, and best, I ask you to share your gratitude with God for the blessings He holds for us – as individuals and as an organization. Ask Him for discernment and direction.
3. I want you to know I’m working on the 23/24 year.

A few weeks ago, I was blessed to have an online conference with Berea’s original vision holder, Judy Musick. We had a wonderful conversation. I will leave you with her words:

”Continue working in integrity. Remember the peace of Jesus without division. Be brave.”
