Macie Brehob

Junior High

Macie Brehob has been part of the Berea community since its founding in 2017. Her journey at Berea from student to college practicum has been a transformative and educational experience!

Macie was a student under Judy Musick, studying literature and history. She conquered the United Kingdom on Berea’s first School Trip, exploring the ruins of Castle Conway, playing on the beach in Wales, touring the home of the Bronte sisters, and more. With the same determination and spirit, Macie completed her home school education with Berea Academy. In her final semester at Berea, Macie also stepped into leading Spanish 1 after the first semester instructor encountered a life change.

Macie decided to take a gap between high school completion and starting college. During that time, Macie was a reliable and knowledgeable campus assistant for Berea. Students are drawn to Macie and her unique style, sense of humor, and patience. In 2023/2024, second semester, Macie manages the lunch/recess hour on Thursdays.

Macie is currently a student at Maryville University, studying education and arts. While her classmates are using the 2024/2025 year to observe an assigned public classroom, Macie will be leading instruction at Berea Academy. Recognizing her experience at Berea and with our students, Macie’s college advisor recommended an experience based practicum, rather than observation based.

Macie is leading Literature for Junior High in 2024/2025. The course will utilize Mosdos Press Gold, an excellent format for learning the language and skills for literature comprehension and criticism. She will work closely with Beth Mennemeyer, the 23/24 instructor of this course, and several other Berea instructor mentors.

Berea Academy has successfully supported Student Teachers in several subjects through the years. Macie’s enthusiasm and mastery focus create an opportunity for many to grow and learn in their particular roles. Students will enjoy Macie’s approach, methodical and interesting, to learning these key skills for literature understanding.
