Core Concepts and High School
Krista Attarian has been a member of the Berea community for several years, first partnering with Berea in 2020/2021 as a parent. Over the years, her children have become a delightful part of our student body. In 2022, Krista answered the call to become a member of the Board of Directors. As a parent, she brings an important view of our organization and is a well spoken advocate for Berea families.
Krista has studied/degrees in English, Communications/Journalism, and Religious Studies. She trained through Teach for America and spent several years teaching middle school Language Arts and Social Studies in the St. Louis Public School District. Her education and experience underscores the importance of engaging students in important topics and historical events with fun and passion.
After much prayer and discussion, Krista accepted God’s call to step further in with Berea Academy. For 2024/2025, Krista is leading history for the Core Concepts students! The class focuses on the founding of the United States through the Great Gold Rush, with an introduction to the indigenous people of North America in the beginning. Krista’s passion for history and welcome, enthusiastic manner invites students to journey with her.
Krista also followed her passion into photography. She operates a successful photography business focused on portraits and events. Krista is bringing her expertise into a high school course in photography! Modern Photography will include a brief history of photography, the principles of photography, and a lot of practice. Krista’s perspective is that “the best camera is the camera in your hand.”
