We’re glad you are interested in Berea Academy.
Berea Academy is not a home school co-op nor are we modeling ourselves after other learning centers. We desire to provide a fresh and unique learning experience and therefore, our application process is also unique.
We want to ensure that every student entering our academy understands and can commit to this vision. It is not enough for us to just look at one year, but we plan several years down the road, attempting to see what the Lord has in mind for the South County Area in the way of home school opportunities. We believe in dreaming big, but always in the context of being good stewards of our time, talents and resources.
Our application process follows an evaluation protocol; we are not a “one-size-fits-all” group. Right up front we want parents to know that our primary goal is to effectively meet the needs of the home school community in this area. If we don’t believe we are equipped to help your student thrive, or if we believe a different educational opportunity will work better for you, we are happy to direct you to other resources which would be better suited for your student. Carefully considering each applicant reinforces our vision and goals, and fosters the sense of safety, security, and trust students need to excel in their education. This application process is the same for all enrolling students (and adults enrolling into adult classes).
An individual on the board, on the administrative staff, or on the teaching staff of Berea Academy must recommend each student for admission. When someone applies that no one at Berea Academy has a current relationship with, we enter into phase two of the application process, which requires the calling of references and a personal interview. Phone calls will be made to listed references and the hope is to hear from them in a timely manner. An attempt to complete the process within 7 business days, from submission of application to acceptance, is the goal. Delays can be expected to occur based on reference response and schedules for interviews being coordinated. We will do our best to make the process move as quickly as we are able.
Berea Academy has an admissions policy that can explain what standards are applied to the students and families attending.
Application and Enrollment Process
To attend Berea Academy, all students must go through the following process to ensure each student and their family are a good fit for Berea Academy and we are a good fit for your needs.
- Application – Each student must apply to attend Berea Academy. This application allows our Staff to get to know you and your family. You may apply using this student application form. Adults are permitted to attend classes, please apply using this adult application form.
- Enrollment – Once your application has been processed and you have been accepted to Berea Academy, you will receive enrollment instructions by email.
- Scheduling – After you have submitted your enrollments, students will be assigned to classes using a tiered enrollment system.
Course fees are listed in the class catalog and individual class pages. See full details on the Billing and Payment policy.
Payment is required to finalize registration in a class.
Berea Academy uses a Tiered Enrollment System.
The system helps Berea honor the individuals who are currently involved in the academy, both as teachers and as students. This also helps us celebrate students who are excited to join our community.
- Teachers have early enrollment privileges for classes at Berea Academy, both for themselves and for their children.
- Current active students at Berea Academy can then enroll in classes at Berea Academy before those classes are made available to the general public.
- After tiers 1 and 2 have an opportunity to register, then registration is open to the public. Once open enrollment tiers open, there are no preferences given to any student; as long as their application has been accepted, we reserve classroom seats on a first come, first served basis.
