Angela O’Dell’s The World’s Story series is a conversational, highly-readable text that draws the reader back to whatever time period or person is being covered. You live with them, walk/sail/ride with them, worship/pray with them, and make history with them. Then, in wonderful Charlotte Mason style, you retell their story in your own words, draw pictures, follow them on maps, research and discover background information, copy their words, and make note of whatever special lessons you have learned.
The World’s Story, vol 2, is a complete curriculum for one academic year. The volume begins with the Fall of Rome and carries through to the Renaissance. The book is focused on world history from a European perspective, though it does include chapters on China, India, and Africa. The program is Christian and has a significant Christian perspective, most notably in “Start Here,” the introduction page for each chapter.
The Teacher Guide is a required purchase. It contains the student worksheets for the program. The Teacher Guide also contains the answer key for the worksheets. Berea requests that parents remove the answer key or allow students to remove the answer key during the first class period.
In addition to the worksheets accompanying each lesson, students have additional activities, writing assignments, quizzes, and tests throughout the year.
World History is part of Junior High programming.
