Get ready to “Show Me” what you know!  Missouri State history is an important part of a student’s learning and experience. In “It’s My State! Missouri,” students will learn about the geography, history, people, economy, and government in their home state. The book will provide the structure for the class to jump in and explore our state. Additional worksheets or printed material may be incorporated.

In this course, students will also be coached through preparing and giving a class presentation. It’s a true embrace of our state motto: The Show Me State. Class presentations are a unique opportunity for homeschooling students. The guidelines, expectations, and due dates will be thoroughly outlined and communicated, complete with step by step guidance.

One of the wonderful parts of learning about your state is the availability of field trips! Several trips will be offered through the year, though attendance for them is optional. Currently, options include the Missouri History Museum at Forest Park, Faust Park Historic Village, Missouri Civil War Museum, and others. Planning may include a day trip to Jefferson City, our state capitol. With the exception of Jefferson City, trips will be within 40 miles of our meeting location, 9820 E Watson Road, 63126. Trips will attempt to include families – especially siblings. The final schedule for trips will be available in August, 2023.
