Infectious Disease Policy, formerly COVID-19 Information, History: 2022/2023

To help our community understand the way Berea Academy has approached COVID-19, we have provided this history of our COVID-19 related policies.

For the 2022/2023 school  year, Berea Academy will continue to adjust face covering policies and other infectious disease related policies to enable in person classes. Factors considered may include: local transmission rates; evidence of transmission between students; rate of infection of the students/families attending Berea; federal, state, and local guidelines. Policies may require face coverings while in the building. Wearing a face covering is supported and welcome. Face coverings and infectious disease policy adjustments do not qualify for tuition refunds.

We continue to grow as an organization. To reflect that growth, beginning in 2022/2023, Berea Academy is shifting away from policies directly related to COVID-19 and instead considering Infectious Diseases as a whole. In July, 2022, our 22/23 Student Handbook was updated to reflect this adjustment.

Our Current Face Covering Policy:

Berea will continue to approach face covering policies as wisely as possible. Face coverings will always be welcome, as some families may need to utilize face coverings more frequently than the general public. For the staff and students, face coverings may be required, partially or fully, throughout the year.

Factors Guiding Face Covering Policy, rev. 7/2022

Face Covering policies are subject to change throughout the fiscal/school year, and are crafted based on:

  • Commitment to in-person classes
  • Berea Academy’s best understanding of government guidelines, as established by the Federal government, Missouri State government, and St. Louis County government
  • Respect for the leadership of Berea’s host location: Southgate Church
  • Respect for individual agency
  • Balance with and for our community of instructors, students, and families

As of 7/26/2023, we do not require Face Covering while in the building. The situation will be evaluated again in late August, and weekly throughout the school year.
