Krisi Maichel joined Wonder and Explore in 2021/2022. Ms. Krisi brings an organization to our program previously unseen! Her calm demeanor and patient approach have won over even the most energetic student.
Kris taught in a variety of settings before joining Berea, from summer camps, middle and elementary schools to learning centers. She has a degree in elementary and middle school science education from Missouri State University. Her experience and education shine in her classroom, as each student is led through the material at their pace and ability.
Krisi is married to her loving husband, Eric and has three children: Maggie, Beatrice, and Matthew. She loves looking under rocks and old logs for insects and bird watching. She likes books that teach her things, inspire her to try something new, or to make something. Krisi loves to share what she finds and learns with others. She has a terrier mix named Bailey, a brown tabby cat named Gigi, a sky blue parakeet named Joku, and an aquarium of tropical fish and snails. She enjoys gardening, cooking, and meditating on God’s Word.
Ms. Krisi leads the Science programming for Wonder and Explore. Like another favorite science teacher, Ms Kris isn’t afraid to get messy! Students gather at the beginning of the class to learn the day’s concepts. Ms. Krisi then brings in a wide variety of hands-on learning activities to help the students understand and retain their new knowledge. Through drawing, writing, exploring, making, and more, students gain a meaningful understanding of God’s world around them.
