My Pals are Here Science Level 3 is published by Singapore Math. The text is colorful, with age appropriate reading/language. The 2nd edition, selected for Level Up Science 2024/2205, uses the “5 E’s” instructional model: Engagement, Exploration, Explanation, Elaboration, and Evaluation. Each lesson contains these concepts. My Pals are Here science is an inquiry based approach focusing on critical and inventive thinking.

Level 4 Discusses: Animal Parts and their Functions, Plant Parts and their Functions, Life Cycles of Living Things, Our Natural Resources, States of Matter, Motion and Forces, Types of Forces, Forms and Uses of Energy, Sources of Energy, Properties of Light, and Properties of Sound.

Class time will be focused on fitting the ideas together. One of the best ways to master concepts is through experiment and engagement. The students will engage in a wide variety of activities to explore the readings.

Ms. Hannah is also planning a Science Fair in early 2025. Student involvement is not required, though it is encouraged and supported. The final date for the Science Fair will be announced in September, 2024.

Science! is the Thursday morning session of Level Up, paired with The Show Me State: Missouri.
