World history is an ocean of information. There are many different ways to delve into world history, with pros and cons to each. When faced with choosing a curriculum for a single year course, families are often forced to compromise a broader understanding of the world.
Angie Mertz, a new instructor for 2023/2024, has a Bachelor’s degree of Science in History. Combined with her expertise in the graphic arts, she is uniquely qualified to create a history program for Berea Academy.
The program will consist of unit studies, which will mirror the place and time periods of the World Literature course.
World Literature | World History Targets May Include |
---|---|
Unit 1 – Early Literature | Geography/Culture around Sacred Texts |
Unit 2 – Epic Poetry | Trojan War |
Unit 3 – Medieval-Renaissance | Medieval and Renaissance Europe |
Unit 4 – Enlightenment-Romanticism | 17th, 18th Century Highlights, Global |
Unit 5 – 20th Century | Post WWII, Global |
The above targets are examples, the final study schedule is not complete. It will be available in July, 2023. Ms. Mertz is also leading the course World Literature. Leading both classes provides her with the opportunity to build complementary classes. It is not necessary to take both classes. However, the students who choose both will benefit from the cross-curricular bridges between courses.
Interested families may still select this option during enrollment. When enrolling for a course with incomplete information on the instructor or the required materials, parents are entitled to a refund without penalty.
World History is part of High School programming.
